Safety First

Know Safety; No Injury

Safety protects workers from injury and illness, and reduces absenteeism and turnover. It also increases productivity and quality, and raises employee morale. We use a proactive approach with weekly inspections of the job site. During the inspection, current and future hazards are reviewed and a plan for hazard prevention is put into place.

SAFETY STANDARDS

Safety of our team is a top priority. Our team consists of our employees, sub-contractors, owners, owner’s employees and patrons. We have developed a safety system over the last 30 years and have completed major construction projects inside fully functioning Hospitals around the area, without incident.

Our Safety Manager is Ronnie Watson. Ronnie comes to Coastal Structures after serving 29 years as a full-time member of the SC National Guard. He has taken his training to the next level becoming an OSHA 30 instructor as well as a First-Aid Trainer. All of our superintendents and foreman are OSHA 30 certified and receive annual CPR certifications.

Our safety software allows Ronnie to visit all jobsites on a weekly basis and send any positive or negative findings directly to the project managers and superintendents. If corrective actions are not made on site at time of the inception Superintendents/Foremen are given a time frame to make the correction. Once the correction is made the Superintendents/Foremen can update the safety software and a notification of the correction is sent back to Ronnie.

We also have a safety incentive program that pays monthly and annual bonuses to all of our employees.

OSHA 30 CERTIFICATION

OSHA 30 is an outreach and voluntary training program provided by Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA), United States Department of Labor.

It provides 30 hours of training to the mid-level employees and supervisors touching on appreciation, prevention, avoidance and reduction of safety and health hazards in the workplace. It also enriches the employees’ knowledge on their rights, employer responsibilities and procedures for complaining and suggestions.

Those who complete OSHA 30 Training are adept in topics including hazard communication, fire prevention, scaffolds, electrical, fall protection, excavations, cranes, personal protective equipment (PPE), health hazards in construction, welding cutting, OSHA inspection procedures, OSHA construction standards for compliance etc.
