Santee Gun Club

Description

Also known as the Blake House, this renowned 7800 square foot former home of the Santee Gun Club was originally constructed in the late 1800s. Now owned by the State of South Carolina, the building is utilized by the Department of Natural Resources as offices for the 24,000 acre Santee Coastal Reserve. The original materials from the house were salvaged and re-used for parts of the siding, interior walls and all the cabinetry work. The grand living room was opened to create a two story volume around the grand fireplace, which was one of seven fireplaces in the building. Renovation included complete foundation, HVAC, siding, plumbing, and a new roof. Renovation design by Tych & Walker Architects.
